Many thanks to all who gave to the Revolution Books Winter Fund Drive.  We ended the drive Sunday night, January 22. Together we reached $22,109, or 89% of the goal, from 339 donors. That's a lot of people!  Some of you made heartfelt statements of support, many invited friends to donate, and spread the word.

All of this made a big difference, and makes a difference in the world.

Supporting Revolution Books is about contributing to humanity breaking free of this system—getting to a radically different and far better world through a revolution that is becoming more possible in THIS time.

There is no place like Revolution Books. Here, the search for the truth about why the world is the horror it is -- and the revolutionary way out -- is at the heart of discussion, debate, and the breadth of books. We wrangle over the biggest questions of history and politics, culture and ideology.

At our special program marking the 60th anniversary of The Wretched of the Earth, with Andy Zee and Cornel West, the issue was sharply posed: is revolution about the oppressed getting even with their oppressors, or is it about putting an end to all oppression?  
In September 2022, scholar Caroline Elkins presented her book Legacy of Violence: A History of the British Empire, tearing the veil off the savagery of that empire—and we opened it further with Professor Elkins, turning to the U.S. empire, its “thank-you-for-your-service” crimes against humanity...and the need, the possibility of a world without imperialism.

This summer, RB hosted programs in support of IRAN's Political Prisoners and the courageous uprising of women in Iran. Revolutionary analysis, culture, Iranian voices. RB is the go-to resource to learn about the rebellion against patriarchy and dictatorship.

In February, RB hosted a conversation with novelist ROBERT JONES, JR.  about his daring novel centering around two enslaved young men who find love with each other.

December 7:  AIDAN LEVY spoke at RB about Saxophone Colossus: The Life and Music of Sonny Rollins, his new biography of the master jazz improviser.  The evening included a  surprise performance by saxophonist Bill Saxton.

What animates the life of Revolution Books is the work and leadership of Bob Avakian (BA) who has developed the new communism, a whole new framework for human emancipation. A revolution to overthrow this capitalist-imperialist system, to abolish all exploitation and oppression--and create a society and world in which human beings can truly flourish and the imagination can soar.  

An essential feature of the life of Revolution Books is the broadness of mind and generosity of spirit that Bob Avakian exemplifies, drawing from diverse spheres of human thought and experience -- with the new communism fostering curiosity about the world. This is a revolution that values, that requires, the creative spirit and intellectual and cultural ferment. It's why we have the range of books and programs that we do.

Revolution Books is for all who are agonizing over where things are headed—yet dreaming of something far better. But there's a problem. Too many people are thinking the way of the system: their heads down and all too willing to “stay in their lane.” Too many are caught up in the “wokeness” that has people blaming and “canceling” each other, while scurrying for crumbs from the system. Too many people place their hopes in (and throw millions of dollars in support of) Biden and the Democrats who are enforcers of this system, guardians of America's genocidal empire. 

But we have an incredible tool and resource to change this situation: The Bob Avakian Interviews that premiered on the RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less—Show. BA takes you on a journey as he grapples with the most excruciating questions that we face today, doing this with sharpness and scientific method, creativity and humor (and even song). And he never flinches from putting before people the difficulties and challenges humanity faces...and showing how we could wrench something truly emancipating out of this situation. The Bob Avakian Interviews can play a major role in “unlocking thinking,” raising people's sights to the real possibility of a whole other world, and enabling them to learn about, join with, and contribute to the revolution to change everything.

*Funds are needed so Revolution Books can buy and promote many more “banned books.” These are books in the cross-hairs of fascist thought control. The fascists want to suppress the teaching of the true history of slavery and racism in this country; they want to keep novels about the lived experiences of Black and other people of color, women, gay and differently gendered people off the shelves of libraries; they want to squelch critical thinking.
